Spin tires 201511/9/2022 ![]() ![]() Is it a Rubicon or a Sahara / Sport? Either a used one, I have one for a Sahara / Sport sitting around, a new one, upgrading to a Rubicon TC if you don't have a Rubi, or upgrading to an Atlas if you really want a nice TC. It is a fair amount of work to fix, just removing it and re-installing it is a good deal of work for the home mechanic. You can look into fixing it, or you can replace it. The issue with the locker not locking would be another issue. It may be your chain is broken or missing. It sounds like neither your locker is locking nor is your transfer case properly connecting the front drive shaft to the output of the transmission. But at least it shows you how it would work if the transfer case was actually linking that axle with the output of the transmission. If the same thing shows the rear spinning opposite when the locker is not locked and both spin the same direction when the locker is locked that would be what you expect. That can still indicate that, but it is harder to tell. But if only the one wheel is spinning and the other is stationary while in 4WD that indicates your transfer case is not working and your locker is not locking. If the locker won't lock you can't easily do that test as the diff will allow one wheel to spin in one direction while the other spins in the other direction. ![]() Click to expand. If the locker is locked and working it should spin both tires. ![]()
